The non-aligned status of Ukraine will be abolished this week, said Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Groysman, AzVision.az reports citing UNIAN.

He noted President Petro Poroshenko submitted the relevant bill to the parliament as an ‘urgent document’.

“I hope we will review this document this week and correct our mistake. The non-aligned status of Ukraine is not expedient,” he added.

Ukraine’s non-aligned status was declared in 2010. President Poroshenko submitted a bill on the abolishment of the status to the Verkhovna Rada on December 18, 2014.
