All military units in Istanbul and Ankara to be evacuated, park to be built in area of Akinci Air Base
Number of dismissed servicemen due to military coup attempt in Turkey reached 3,185, Turkey`s Defence Minister Fikri Isik said on August 12.
151 of these servicemen are general and admirals. 265 pilots have been dismissed from the army in connection with military coup attempt and the Fetullah Terror Organization (FETO).

Though there are enough pilots for emergency situations, total number of pilots is lower than the necessary limit of Turkish army.

Isik said they are developing a decision to allow the pilots and other servicemen, who were dismissed from the army under the pressure of FETO, to return to the army.

According to him, 162 servicemen fled after military coup attempt and the investigation is underway: “Number of dismissed servicemen may change”.

The Defence Minister also said a Park of Democracy will be built in the area of Akinci Air Base: “All military units in Istanbul and Ankara will be evacuated by September 15, areas of these units will be used by population and the state bodies”.
