Turkmenistan passes law on Internet development regulation
The law on "Legal regulation of the Internet development and rendering Internet services in Turkmenistan" was passed at the sixth session of the Majlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan of the fifth convocation.
During the meeting, the MPs said that the full development of the telecommunication sector is one of the priorities of the state policy, an important factor for sustainable economic growth of the country and its successful integration into the modern system of the world economic relations.

Turkmenistan takes all measures to meet the needs of the population in the latest communication systems. The equipment of telephone exchanges is modernized. The fiber-optic lines are laid among the settlements. The satellite communication systems are available. The national cellular network is expanded.

A level of providing the companies, enterprises, educational institutions of Turkmenistan with the information and communication technologies is being increased.

Launching the first national satellite will allow Turkmenistan to make a significant breakthrough in the field of telecommunications, Internet and mobile communication. According to the contract with the Turkmen government, the French Thales Alenia Space is planning to launch a satellite in 2015.
