Azerbaijan Methanol Company has exported 100 thousand tons of methanol
Since August 2014, Azerbaijan Methanol Company (AzMeCo) has exported 100 thousand tons of the produced methanol to the world markets. Methanol was delivered to the world market customers through the port of Baku and the Georgian ports of Poti and Kulevi. Produced methanol was delivered to the sales ports by railcars owned by AzMeCo. Since August and up to now 100 thousand tons of methanol were exported to Turkey, Romania, Slovenia, Holland and Belgium.

The main buyer of methanol produced at the AzMeCo plant is a British company BP. During the mentioned period the Georgian port of Kulevi was used mainly in the methanol supply chain. In addition, it should be emphasized that the AzMeCo has introduced innovations in the field of sale and transportation of methanol. For the first time transportation of methanol through the Volga-Don canal was carried out, and the large-scale loading of methanol was first held at the ports of Poti and Kulevi.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AzMeCo Nizami Piriyev said about this: "The completion of construction of the methanol plant in Azerbaijan and its successful operation is an excellent example of support rendered to the private sector by the country’s leadership. Azmeco methanol plant is one of the largest investments in the non-oil sector of our country. For the first time in Azerbaijan, the Company received methanol by processing of natural gas as raw material. And from an environmental point of view, this enterprise meets the latest international standards. Our company will continue to contribute to the economic development of Azerbaijan in the future."
