Candidacy from ruling coalition to Georgian Constitutional Court not approved
The candidate from the ruling Georgian Dream coalition for the membership in the country
Some 69 MPs of Georgian parliament voted for and 20 against Turava’s candidacy. A candidate should gather at least 76 votes to be elected a member of the Constitutional Court by secret ballot.

Merab Turava served as the deputy chairman of the Supreme Court in 2000-2005, but was dismissed from this post after publicly accusing the country’s authorities of putting pressure on the court.
