Nazarbayev appoints new PM
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed Bakytzhan Sagintayev the country’s new prime minister, presidential press service reported Sept. 9.
Earlier, Nazarbayev dismissed Karim Massimov as the prime minister – the position Massimov held for about seven years.
The president also appointed Massimov the chairman of the National Security Committee.
Bakytzhan Sagintayev earlier served as the first deputy prime minister.
President Nazarbayev also appointed Askar Mamin the first deputy prime minister. Mamin earlier headed the Kazakhstan Railways.
