Russia, Arab Gulf States may jointly improve situation in Middle East - Lavrov
Russia and members of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) may narrow the gap over a number of regional issues and jointly improve the situation in the Middle East, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Wednesday, Sputnik reported.
"We think that we can reconcile our positions over a number of issues and jointly improve the situation in the region, which has suffered from instability enough," Lavrov said at a meeting with the foreign ministers of the GCC members on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to Lavrov, Moscow is interested in deepening of the political and economic cooperation with the Gulf States.

"We have many different projects, including joint investment platforms… we appreciate such format of dialogue," the Russian minister added.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said, on his part, that the Gulf States were interested in the development of cooperation with Russia.

"We are ready to discuss the cooperation with your country in both security and trade spheres," Jubeir said.
