European companies intend to cooperate with Iran in gas sphere
The companies from France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and Russia hold talks with the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) on the issue of cooperation in the sphere of construction of gas processing plants (GPP) and gas pipelines, said the Head of Investment Committee of the NIGC Asghar Soheilipour.
Soheilipour said that negotiations in this area are also underway with companies from Japan, China and the Republic of Korea, Iranian news agency Tasnim News reported Jan.3.

However, Soheilipour didn’t mention the names of companies.

“Issues of modernization of gas pipelines in the country, as well as projects for the construction of gas pipelines from Iran to Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan and other countries are being discussed with foreign companies,” said the head of the committee.

It was earlier reported that Russian companies have offered to construct four cross-country gas pipelines in Iran for export purposes. In particular, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Sept. 10 that investing in Iran’s oil and gas sector is interesting for Russian companies.

Iran is currently in talks with giant European oil and gas firms including Italy`s Eni, Russia`s Lukoil, and British Petroleum. The international companies are reportedly ready to invest in Iran`s oil and gas projects as soon as the sanctions regarding the country`s nuclear program are lifted.

As previously reported, the Islamic Republic will also host the third meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) , which is scheduled for autumn 2015.
