Meanwhile, attorney Vakil Gurbanov expressed gratitude on his Facebook account to President Ilham Aliyev, journalists, and international organizations protecting his rights:
“I highly appreciate dear Mr President Ilham Aliyev’s order which brought about restoration of our rights that had been violated. I’d like to say “thank you”, and I regard it as a step toward national unity and national reconciliation,” Mammadov wrote.
Note that, the Baku Court on Grave Crimes had sentenced Avaz Zeynalli to 9 years in prison, while Gurban Mammadov had been sentenced to 3 years in prison by the Nasimi District Court.
Both persons were released under the last pardon order signed on Dec.29 by President Ilham Aliyev.
