Traffic still closed on highway between Georgia, Russia
The traffic on the highway running between Georgia and Russia is still closed due to heavy snowfall and an avalanche danger.
Georgian Department of Roads told on Jan. 6 that due to an avalanche danger the movement of all kinds of transportation was prohibited on the Gudauri-Kobi-Stepantsminda-Lars section of the Georgian Military Highway.

There are dozens of cars from Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia near the country’s border. They have not been able to travel from Georgia to Russia for two days.

According to forecasts, the traffic towards Russia will not resume until Jan. 10 due to bad weather.

The movement of vehicles towards the town of Ninotsminda to the border with Armenia was also prohibited.

The movement of vehicles on other highways in Georgia are open.
