New Zealand-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group created
At the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Australia and New Zealand, a New Zealand-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group has been created being composed of eight deputies of New Zealand`s legislative body House of Representatives. Chairman of the group Todd Muller informed the embassy about it.
The embassy told that the group was approved by the speaker of parliament David Carter. Todd Muller is also a member of the Special committee on foreign relations. Members of the group are:

1. Todd Muller – chairman;

2. Mahesh Bindra;

3. Jami-Lee Ross;

4. David Bennett;

5. Stuart Smith;

6. Sarah Dowie;

7. Mark Mitchell;

8. Andrew Bayley.


The embassy informed that regional division is preferred in the practice of creating friendship groups at New Zealand parliament. In this regard, the creation of a friendship group with Azerbaijan can be regarded as an exceptional case.

An Azerbaijan-New Zealand Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group composed of 17 deputies is operating in the Azerbaijani parliament. The chairman of the group is MP Khanlar Fatiyev.
