Kazakhstan denies statement about expected electricity tariff increase
The Kazakh Ministry of Energy issued a statement in which it denied the information about an increase in electricity tariffs in the country from February 1. This information was published in some Kazakh media outlets.
"The Minister of Energy did not sign such a decree or order,” the statement says. “This information is wrong.”

Only the president of the country is entitled to issue decrees in Kazakhstan (paragraph 1, Article 45 of the Constitution of Kazakhstan).

Thus, making a decision about raising the electricity tariffs for consumers is outside the Ministry of Energy’s competence, the statement says.
