Moscow expects Convention on Caspian status to be signed at Astana summit
Moscow expects the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea will be signed at the fifth summit of the leaders of the Caspian Sea littoral states in Astana, Kazakhstan, in 2017, said Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Lavrov made the remarks during the talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Moscow Oct. 28, RIA Novosti reported.

“Today I would like to exchange view on preparations for the fifth Caspian summit, where we expect to sign the convention on the Caspian Sea’s legal status,” said the Russian FM.

Moscow had earlier considered realistic the signing of the Convention in early 2017.
