Kabul International Airport to be protected by Azerbaijani peacekeepers
Another group of Azerbaijani peacekeepers left for Afghanistan, the Azerbaijani defense ministry said Jan. 10.
A seeing-off ceremony was held in one of military units in Baku. Around 39 people will serve in the International Security Assistance Force (İSAF).

The Azerbaijani peacekeepers will protect the international airport in Kabul, according to the new task.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan began on November 20, 2002. Around 90 servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, two military physicians and two engineers are involved in the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
