Russia’s region to expand trade-economic co-op with Azerbaijan
Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region intends to sign an agreement on trade and economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, Igor Sazonov, deputy minister of industry of Nizhny Novgorod region, said.
Sazonov made the remarks Nov. 1 during a roundtable meeting titled “Industry: Prospects of Bilateral Cooperation” as part of the 7th Azerbaijan-Russia Interregional Forum, which opened Nov. 1 in Baku.

"The issue is that the trade-economic relations between Azerbaijan and Nizhny Novgorod region have recently changed,” he said. “The trade turnover decreased by 2.5 times in 2016 compared to the same period of 2015. Therefore, we have every reason to intensify activity.”

He said that the main areas of cooperation between Nizhny Novgorod region and Azerbaijan are the wood processing industry, chemical industry, as well as oil refining.
