Russia offers Azerbaijan its creditor protection method
Russia offers Azerbaijan to use its method of protection of creditors, said Nikita Isaev, director of the Russian Institute of Contemporary Economics.
He made the remarks summing up a roundtable meeting titled “Industry: Prospects of Bilateral Cooperation” held as part of the 7th Azerbaijan-Russia Interregional Forum, which opened in Baku Nov. 1.

“Azerbaijan has a rather weak legal system of creditor protection,” Isaev said. “It is necessary to strengthen this system, because small and medium entrepreneurs always look for a way to avoid repayment of loans. This, in turn, affects the financial indicators of banks. The situation may be corrected, and we are ready to provide methods in this work.”

At the same time, there are problems connected with the lack of information in Russia about business in Azerbaijan, which makes it necessary to start a dialogue between entrepreneurs, Isaev added.

The 7th Azerbaijan-Russia Interregional Forum took place in Baku Nov. 1. Over 600 representatives of state and private organizations of both countries participated in the forum. Twelve documents were signed in the forum.
