Azerbaijan and Iran`s supreme religious leaders meet
Chairman of Caucasus Muslims Office meets Iran`s supreme religious leader
As part of a visit to Iran, a delegation of Azerbaijan led by chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Allahshukur Pashazade met Sunday the country`s supreme religious leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei.
They discussed relations between the two countries and peoples, AzerTAc reports.

Pashazade delivered Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s greetings to Sayed Ali Khamenei. He spoke of the development of Azerbaijan, protection of human rights and religious freedom in the country. He said new mosques were built in Azerbaijan and old ones were repaired. “A few days ago with participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev Shamakhi Juma Mosque was opened after major overhaul.”

Sayed Ali Khamenei, in turn, asked Pashazade to convey his greetings to President Ilham Aliyev. The supreme religious leader said he was aware of the development process in Azerbaijan. Khamenei noted Iran always supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Elders Council, MP Fattah Heydarov spoke at the meeting about the importance of Iran-Azerbaijan relationship.
