US, Iran intend to achieve considerable progress at talks on Tehran
US Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif are expected to meet in Geneva on January 14 to discuss Tehran
US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Monday he intended to create the base at his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif for promoting the talks on Tehran’s nuclear program.

The USA seeks to step up the talks on Iran’s nuclear program for achieving more progress, Kerry said at the Vibrant Gujarat business summit.

Kerry and Zarif are expected to meet in Geneva on January 14.

Last week, the European External Action Service said in a report that the P5+1 group and Iran will continue talks on Tehran’s nuclear program in Geneva on January 18 at the level of political directors. The parties would continue talks to achieve progress towards finding a long-term comprehensive solution to the nuclear problem.

The European Union will be represented by Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Helga Schmid.

Before the meeting Iran is planning to have bilateral meetings with Russian and US negotiators, an Iranian diplomat told TASS on January 6. He did not rule out that bilateral meetings would be held on January 17.

Russia will be represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

The P5+1 is a group of countries which in 2006 joined the diplomatic efforts with Iran in regard to its nuclear program. The term refers to the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.
