Gulen movement opposes Turkey in "Armenian genocide" issue, FM says
The movement of Fethullah Gulen, an Islamic social activist residing in the US, opposes Turkey in the issue of the so-called Armenian genocide, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, the Anadolu news agency reported Jan. 12.
However, the foreign minister did not elaborate on the details on this matter.

He said the Gulen movement is in every possible way trying to denigrate Turkey in the world and harm the country’s image.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey’s predecessor, the Ottoman Empire, allegedly carried out “genocide” against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Turkey in turn has always denied “the genocide” took place.

While strengthening the efforts to promote the so-called “genocide” in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries. Although Turkey has repeatedly proposed to create an independent commission to investigate the events of 1915, Armenia continues to reject the proposal.

Meanwhile, Fethullah Gulen himself is not welcomed in Turkey. Previously, the then prime minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Gulen of standing behind the wiretapping of the phone conversations.

Erdogan also said Gulen’s movement with its anti-state activities proved that it is not a religious movement, but a politicized and illegal structure. He called on Fethullah Gulen not to intervene in Turkey`s internal affairs and accused the US of supporting him
