Based on latest reports, the Director General of the Tehran Province Environment Protection Office Nasser Mehrdadi told IRNA that due to the high risk air pollution, his office had declared shutdown of all schools, including high schools, primary schools and kindergartens, in Tehran, except the suburban cities of Damavand, Firuzkuh and Pardis.
The decision came as the average level of PM2.5 particles in Tehran’s air hit more than 150, more than three times the level considered safe.
The Committee session on Tuesday said as per approval of the Committee, only autos licensed to frequent in the emergency areas will be outdoors.
He said the authorized time for movement of cars with the odd-and-even plate numbers will be extended for two more hours (up to 19 hours local time).
Based on related report, the representatives of Tehran in Majlis have sent a letter to President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday, calling on him to pay special attention to the issue of air pollution in the capital.
Some 35 Tehran representatives in the Parliament out of total 290 MPs have called on the President to order the related organizations to find due solution to the air pollution question and make serious decisions about it.
