Operation in Aleppo due to sponsors of terrorism blocking political dialogue

Operation in Aleppo due to sponsors of terrorism blocking political dialogue

The Syrian government forces launched a military campaign in Aleppo because Western and regional sponsors of terrorism blocked all channels of political dialogue, a senior Syrian Army official told Sputnik.

The situation in Aleppo has been seriously deteriorating over the recent months. Thousands of citizens are believed to be trapped in the terrorist-besieged eastern parts of Aleppo with no access to food or water.

"We announced the beginning of military operations in Aleppo after channels for political dialogue closed. When countries in the West and the Middle East supporting terrorists closed the door to dialogue, we had to take military action," Brig. Gen. Samir Suleiman, Head of the Media Affairs of the Syrian Army`s Political Office, said.
