Azerbaijani Embassy in South Africa marks Republic Day
Azerbaijan`s Embassy in the Republic of South Africa has organized a banquet on the occasion of the May 28
According to the embassy, the event brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps in South Africa, state and government officials, members of Azerbaijani and Turkish communities, representatives of the “Friends of Azerbaijan” organization, journalists and businessmen.

Opening the event, ambassador Elkhan Polukhov highlighted the history of the Republic Day, and the 2-year activity of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Addressing the event, member of the Trade Department of the South Africa, chairman of Board of national Lotteries Alfred Nevhutanda recalled his visit to Azerbaijan in 2007, and hailed development processes in the country. Nevhutanda praised the South Africa-Azerbaijan relations.

Director-General of the South Africa Social Development Department Coceko Pakade congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of the Republic Day. He stressed that South Africa attached great importance to friendly and cooperative relations with Azerbaijan.
Pakade underlined the opening of Azerbaijan`s embassy in South Africa made contribution to deepening of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The event participants also viewed a corner of Azerbaijan featuring souvenirs and carpets.
