Iran, P5+1 start new round of nuclear talks
Iran and the P5+1 (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) have started the 12th round of talks to find a solution to the outstanding issues over Tehran`s disputed nuclear program.
The fresh round of talks is taking place at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Geneva, Switzerland where the Iranian diplomats earlier held bilateral meetings with the US delegations in the last four days, the country’s State IRINN TV reported Jan. 18.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araghchi and Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi are representing Iran in the 12th round of negotiations with P5+1 which started at 11:00 local time (GMT +1:00 hours) at the UN Office in Geneva.

Iran`s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his US counterpart, John Kerry held 8-hours of bilateral talks on Jan 14.

Zarif also met with his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier as well as French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

Iranian foreign minister also discussed the ongoing trend of the negotiations with the EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini in a meeting in Brussels on Jan. 15.

Zarif also met again with Kerry on Jan. 16 in Paris. He left Geneva for Tehran Jan. 17 night.

The talks between Iran and the P5+1 group have been extended until July 1, 2015 to reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement.

After the sides failed to meet the 24 Nov. 2014 deadline, they also extended the Geneva nuclear deal, which was signed in November 2013 for providing Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities.
