Biased attitude of US State Secretary towards Azerbaijan has its roots in 90s
The MP of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan Bakhtiyar Aliyev commented on the appeal of a group of US senators, which also included John Kerry, to Mikhail Gorbachev from March 18 1990, which stressed the importance of lifting of the economic blockade of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as reunification of Armenia with the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The appeal shows that the biased attitude towards Azerbaijan of the US Secretary of State John Kerry has its roots in the 90s of XX century, Aliyev told Trend Jan.20.

He said that even during the presidential election, Kerry promised the Armenians that he would fulfill all their wishes.

“Of course, Kerry must fulfill the order he had received, and both his position and double standards against Azerbaijan stem from here,” he said. “That is why John Kerry`s attitude towards Azerbaijan cannot be considered objective. This position is a means of pressure on Azerbaijan.”

The MP said that there are certain circles under the influence of the Armenian lobby in the US, which put pressure on Azerbaijan in various ways.

“They depend on this (Armenian) Diaspora themselves and are elected at its expense, they say,” Aliyev said. “This Diaspora is funding their campaigns. It would be naive to expect an objective attitude towards Azerbaijan from them.”
