Azerbaijan to build second airport on Absheron Peninsula
A second airport for passenger transportation will be constructed on the Absheron Peninsula in Azerbaijan until 2035.
This is stipulated in the plan on using and zoning the territory of Baku, which was presented Dec. 22.

“The airport will be built to the south of the Alat settlement,” Ilgar Isbatov, director of the Baku State Design Institute, told reporters in Baku.

“The Baku International Airport will fully ensure passenger traffic until 2035,” he said. “But taking into account the development of tourism and the establishment of the Alat Free Trade Zone, we believe that there is a need to construct another international airport.”
