Despite Azerbaijan
“It’s very hard for Azerbaijan to agree with the invader under the current circumstances. In this regard, Ukraine and Azerbaijan face a similar situation. Azerbaijan is told to find a way into an agreement with the aggressor. Is it possible to come to some sort of agreement with an aggressor? The aggressor is happy, and it doesn’t want to return the lands it has invaded,” said the ambassador.

Mishchenko added that both countries should be closer and joint their efforts: “We are bound to friendship and cooperation. This is our destiny.”

Touching upon the Treaty of Unity signed between Ukraine`s People Republic and West Ukrainian People Republic on January 22, 1919, the ambassador said that this holds a special place in the history of Ukrainian statehood. “I have watched the video depicting the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. I should mention that the page of the ADR in the history of Azerbaijan was very familiar to me, and I saw some striking points common to the fates of our peoples and their struggle for national liberation”, he said.
