Georgian PM stresses importance of joint projects with Azerbaijan and Turkey
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has underlined the importance of the joint projects being implemented with Turkey and Azerbaijan as he addressed a session of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The Prime Minister stressed the region needs fast, cost-effective and reliable routes for delivering goods from China to Europe. From this point of view, the Premier said the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project is one of such routes. He said the project aims to establish a direct route between Georgia and Turkey, thus connecting Europe with Asian countries “Once operational, it will reduce the period for shipment from China to European markets by more than half and shorten the distance by almost 7500 km,” he added.

Mr. Garibashvili also stressed the importance of the second phase of the Shah Deniz project.

He invited the participants of the discussions to the Silk Road Forum, which would be held under his initiative in Tbilisi.
