Baku students launch landscape design Project
A group of students of the Baku branch of Moscow State University (MSU) have launched a new project within Enactus, a global community of student, academic and business leaders, with the support of the Seaside Boulevard Office, the Ecology Department of the state energy company SOCAR and IDEA environmental campaign.
The purpose of the project is to provide special education in the field of landscape design, which is not very popular, but is in high demand, to orphans and young people from low-income families or boarding schools.

One of the main aims of the project is to provide them with an opportunity to get a job. It is also planned to educate local professionals in landscape design in Azerbaijan.

The project`s educational program has already started with 12 young people attending classes on landscape design.

Classes include both theoretical and hands-on parts and are conducted by Moscow specialists from the MSU and staff of the Seaside Boulevard Office.

The educational program consists mostly of vertical gardening courses, which should expand this type of landscape design in Azerbaijan.

The course will continue until the end of September and will be concluded with an exam. Those who pass the exam successfully will get an MSU certificate and will be employed in respective institutions.

The significance of the project is in its uniqueness as there are no schools in Azerbaijan where experts in the field of landscape design can be educated. Government orders are implemented by foreign companies and local experts educated abroad.

The international community Enactus involves 1,600 universities from 38 countries. Within the community, students realize social, environmental and economic projects. At the initial stage the projects are nominated for the regional round, and the winners further participate in an international competition.
