The Penitentiary Service of the Justice Ministry has released information about another medical examination of Leyla Yunus.

According to the Penitentiary, in compliance with humane principles, the Azerbaijani government allowed Prof. Dr. Christian Vitt, a department chief at Germany’s well-known Charite hospital, to examine prisoner Leyla Yunusova, who is being held at the Baku Investigation Isolator, in order to put an end to rumors about her health condition once and for all. All conditions were created in this regard, APA reports.

The full examination of Convict Leyla Yunusova was conducted by Christian Vitt and Azerbaijan’s highly qualified doctors with various specialties – professors Murad Mammadov, Garay Garaybeyli, Rauf Aghayev and doctor of medical sciences Rovshan Hasanov – at the Republic Diagnostic Center on 29 December 2014.

The Penitentiary Service of the Justice Ministry said that Leyla Yunusov was examined again at the Republican Diagnostic Center on 26 January 2015, and her blood samples were taken for laboratory analysis. Leyla Yunus was repeatedly proposed to undergo gynecological and oncology examination, but she refused.

The international group of doctors included the experts who had attended the previous examination as well as Director of the Metropolitan Gynecologic Oncology Center in Budapest, Hungary, Prof. Laszlo Ungar and well-known gynecologist Prof. Alexander Borsukov.

As a result of the examination, the group drew up a protocol, documented the results, and the examination process was also documented by photographs and video recording.
