“For those who were born and grew up in the Soviet Union and are rather familiar with the history of the two states, this situation seems to be absurd,” Lieberman said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

“We have many friends [in both countries]. There is a very big community of descendants from Russia and Ukraine,” the minister said, stressing: “It seems to me that the the whole current situation is a kind of nonsense.”

Israel’s top diplomat said he believes that Moscow and Kiev are able to “speak with each other directly.” “But like in the old Soviet movie, we “feel sorry for the motherland” he said.
“This entire situation is just incredible,” he said.
