EBRD supports Azerbaijan in rehab of key regional roads
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) considers the financing of a part of a road between Ganja and the Georgian border as part of the project for reconstruction and upgrading of roads in Azerbaijan, Ivana Duarte, head of the EBRD Baku office, told Trend.
"We are considering the financing of 130 km of road on the M2 highway between Ganja, the second largest city in Azerbaijan, and the Georgian border. This would be done within the previously signed framework loan agreement for regional roads," she said.

"The M2 Highway is part of the East-West corridor, which is expected to open up flow of goods via the Silk Road. We hope we will be able to commit to this important project in early 2017."

Duarte added that EBRD continues to support the Azerbaijani government’s priority of rehabilitation and reconstruction of its principal road corridors and key regional roads.

"The well-functioning infrastructure is crucial for trade, for regional cooperation with neighbors, and in general for economic development across the country," she said.
