`100,000 signatures for the recognition of Sargsyan as a criminal of war`
The Working Group of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a press conference on Wednesday.
The petition “100,000 signatures for the recognition of Sargsyan as a criminal of war” created by the Working Group of NGOs for the UN Security Council was presented at the press conference.

Member of the Council of State Support to NGOs, Chairman of Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations` Union (ASYOU) Shahin Ismayilov addressed the press conference, informing about the activities carried out for promotion of the petition to achieve a political assessment to the 20 January events. According to him, at meeting of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations on January 19, a decision was made to create a working group to inform the world community about the 20 January events and the truths about Azerbaijan. The group included 17 NGO leaders.

“They worked hard in a few days. As a result, today we’re holding the presentation of two priority issues. One of the primary issues for the working group is to inform the world community about the 20 January events, and have the world recognize Serzh Sargsyan, who directly participated in the Khojaly events, as an international criminal. The working group aims to collect 100,000 signatures required for his recognition as a criminal of war as soon as possible. The main purpose of the campaign is to show that the Azerbaijani people maintain a common position. The process of winning 100,000 signatures will get started on avaaz.org in the second of the day. And an appeal in this regard will be made to the UN Security Council. I hope we’re going to demonstrate an example of solidarity in a few days and achieve this objective," he added.
