Azerbaijan, Iran to examine possibilities for mutual investment
Azerbaijan and Iran are creating a working group for cooperation in the investment area.
In this connection, the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance (OIETAI) of Iran’s Economy Ministry signed earlier a memorandum of understanding in Baku.

Sadegh Akbari, the OIETAI general director for foreign economic relations, told Trend on Jan. 29 that the memorandum stipulates studying the opportunities for mutually making investments in the both countries’ economies, the settlement of the problems of foreign investors operating both in Azerbaijan and in Iran.

“Aside from that, it is envisaged to jointly organize exhibitions and conferences to showcase the investment opportunities of both countries, to inform each other about the investment climate, the preferences applied, the changes made to the legislation, and to exchange experience to increase investments,” Akbari said.

He added that a working group of 10 representatives of government bodies and private sector was also created.

On the Azerbaijani side, the group is headed by the AZPROMO President Rufat Mammadov, and on the Iranian side – bythe OIETAI General Director for Foreign Investments Abolfazl Kudehei.

The Iranian delegation is headed by Iran’s Economic and Financial Affairs Minister Ali Tayyebnia, who earlier met with Azerbaijan’s Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
