Ariel Cohen: Forum is signal that Azerbaijan has geopolitical options
This forum is a signal that Azerbaijan has geopolitical options as pressure both north and south is growing and may interfere with a possibility of gas export, leading expert of the `Heritage` Fund for Russian and Eurasian Studies and International Energy Policy Ariel Cohen told Trend on the sidelines of the US-Azerbaijan convention `Vision for the Future` today.
"It is important to have not only the EU, but also the US fully engaged," he said. "The US is interested in the development of the Caucasus in terms of economy, security and democracy as well as energy security. In that respect, the US should play a role in convincing Greece and Bulgaria to be available for transit of gas through TAP or Nabucco."

The US-Azerbaijan convention `Vision for the Future` started in Baku on Wednesday.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the event.

As part of the convention, the following sessions on topics will be held:
The State of the US - Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership: US Foreign Policy toward Azerbaijan, Energy Security from the Caspian to Europe: the Changing World Energy Security Dynamics: New prospects for the Southern Energy Corridor, Azerbaijan between East and West, Eurasian Security and Cooperation: Azerbaijan`s Role in Regional Peace and Stability.

Special sessions will also be held on the following topics: Shaping a Presidency, Electing a President: Insights from America`s Premier Political Strategist, Women`s Leadership Role in Governance, Turning Black Gold into Human Capital: Investing in Azerbaijan`s Future, Azerbaijan at the Strategic Global Crossroads, The US and its partners - common views and values and The White House, the Nation and the World will be held within the Convention.
