Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor`s Office holds board meeting
The Military Prosecutor`s Office of Azerbaijan has held a board meeting with the participation of the central staff, prosecutors of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the territorial military prosecutors on the outcomes of the works done in 2014 and tasks lying ahead, the Military Prosecutor`s Office told.
Presenting a report at the board meeting, Deputy Prosecutor General, Military Prosecutor, Lieutenant-General of Justice Khanlar Valiyev mentioned that the fight against crime in the Armed Forces in the past year and the works done to strengthen the rule of law proved to be productive. 99.5 percent of the crimes recorded during the reporting period were solved.

During the reporting period, investigations into cases over embezzlement of public funds were completed and criminals were prosecuted. During the investigation, the damage in the amount of AZN 6,304,842 caused to the state as a result of the actions committed by criminals was provided and the property of the defendants in the value of more than AZN 6 bln was arrested

As a result of search operations conducted by prosecuting agencies last year, 46 persons, who were declared wanted by local law-enforcement bodies, were detained and brought to justice. 1975 irregularities were revealed as a result of 143 inspections carried out to monitor the activities of investigative agencies. 194 presentments were submitted to eliminate the irregularities, 220 people warned, 57 criminal cases launched, 142 written inspections given, and 36 illegal decisions on suspension of cases cancelled. The military prosecutor demanded to intensify the control for increasing the efficiency of the works done in this area and conducting preliminary investigation thoroughly.
