Turkey-backed FSA forces announced on Thursday that they have taken full control over al-Bab:
"We are announcing al-Bab completely liberated, and we are now clearing mines from the residential neighborhoods," Ahmad Othman, commander of the Sultan Mourad opposition group told the AFP.
Field commanders from two other opposition factions in the town also confirmed the news, reports said.
The Turkish army has been supporting (FSA) fighters in liberating al-Bab, a strategic city for Daesh, from the terrorist group.
Turkey launched Operation Euphrates Shield on Aug. 24, 2016 declaring that is was exercising its rights of self-defense codified under the U.N. Charter Article 51, after civilians in Turkey were killed in cross-border shelling by Daesh terrorists.
At least 2,852 Daesh terrorists, and 357 PKK/PYD terrorists have been killed since the beginning of the operation, while 2,207 positions belonging to the terrorists have been destroyed by Turkish artillery and airstrikes.
