The Senate of Jordan has issued a statement on Khojaly genocide.
It was noted at the letter sent by Jordanian Senate Chairman Tahir Masri to Azerbaijani ambassador to the country Sabir Agabayov on 28 May, Azerbaijani embassy in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan said.

“The Senate has adopted a statement about a visit of a group of senators to Azerbaijan and 20th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. Hundreds of innocent people lost lives in this massacre along with those wounded and missing. This is an act of violence against the sovereignty of Azerbaijan and a tragedy of your people, human rights and humanity,” AzerTAj quotes the letter as saying.

“The Jordan Senate supports the position of Jordan which advocates for peaceful resolution of conflicts and urges to refrain from violence which provokes grudge against each other and avoid any contradiction and promote peace, love and values of cooperation and also urges to solve Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in line with international legal principles and sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” the letter says.

“The Senate also supports the decisions of the member states of the Islamic Cooperation Organization recognizing Khojaly tragedy as a genocide and a crime against humanity and calling to take due steps to get this massacre recognized,” the letter adds.
