Customs of Azerbaijan, Russia sign action plan
Azerbaijan and Russia will expand cooperation in the fight against smuggling, as envisaged in the mutual action plan for 2015-2016 signed Feb. 4 by Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Aydin Aliyev and the head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia Andrey Belyaninov in Baku.

The document covers the following areas of cooperation: exchange of experiences in the fight against smuggling, training of professional staff, conduct of laboratory analysis and others.

In addition, the parties signed a flow chart of the exchange of statistical information on mutual trade.

The data in the customs statistics of Azerbaijan and Russia do not reflect the total trade turnover between the two countries, according to Aydin Aliyev. However, the problem of non-compliance of customs statistics between countries occurs worldwide, he said.

This document is intended to resolve this issue through the exchange of statistical data between Azerbaijan and Russia.

The visit of the head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia Andrey Belyaninov to Baku will last until February 5.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia in 2014 amounted to $1.96 billion, $1.3 billion of which accounted for import to Azerbaijan from Russia, while $640.3 million accounted for export to Russia, according to the State Customs Committee.
