Turkish parliament raises issue of Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev
In his speech at the Grand National Assembly, member of the Republican People`s Party (CHP) Ali Ozgunduz called on Turkey to take actions for the return of Shahbaz Guliyev and Dilgam Asgarov, who were taken hostage by Armenians in Kalbajar in June 2014, AzVision.az reports citing Turkish media.
Ali Ozgunduz recalled that both Azerbaijanis were taken hostage by Armenians while visiting their mothers’ graves in Kalbajar, and the other one was brutally killed.

“For Azerbaijan, this is a very important issue now. Azerbaijan and Turkey are one nation, two states. Since we are a single nation, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry too has to care about the two persons from our nation, one of whom was sentenced to 22 years in prison by an illegal court and the other to life in prison. My point is that if our relations with Azerbaijan are indeed upon brotherhood, not just in words, then the Foreign Ministry now has an essential tool in its hands to demonstrate that,” Ali Ozgunduz.

The MP added that the occupied lands belong to Azerbaijan according to UN resolutions.

“The two men have been sentenced to heavy punishments by a so-called court for visiting their mothers in their own land. The Turkish government is supposed to play a crucial part in securing the release of our brothers from Armenian prisons and their return to Azerbaijan,” the MP stressed.

Ali Ozgunduz called on the Turkish PM to raise the issue at the international level and take necessary steps.
