Armenia’s Investigative Committee gets 98 reports on voting rights’ violation- UPDATED
As of Sunday 21:00(UTC/GMT+4), the Investigative Committee of Armenia received 98 reports which apparently contain elements of voting rights’ violation, which is a Criminal Code offense, AzVision.az reports citing the Armenian media.
45 of the reports related to Yerevan, 13 to Gegharkunik, 4 to Kotayk, 9 to Lori, 3 to Vayots Dzor, 7 to Aragatsotn, 8 to Tavush, 6 to Shirak, 2 to Armavir and 1 to Syunik provinces.

The territorial subdivisions of the Investigative Committee are taking necessary actions to check the circumstances mentioned in the reports.

As of Sunday 19:00 (UTC/GMT+4), the Investigative Committee of Armenia received 73 reports which apparently contain elements of voting rights’ violation, which is a Criminal Code offense.

27 of the reports related to Yerevan, 11 to Gegharkunik, 4 to Kotayk, 7 to Lori, 3 to Vayots Dzor, 7 to Aragatsotn, 8 to Tavush, 3 to Shirak, 2 to Armavir and 1 to Syunik provinces.

Armenia is holding a parliamentary election Sunday for the first time since the new Constitution was approved through a referendum in December 2015. The new National Assembly will have 105 deputies, four of whom—representatives of ethnic minorities.

A total of 2,009 election precincts are open all through the country. This voting will be the only national one in the next five years, as Armenia is transitioning to a parliamentary republic.

Five political parties and four blocs are running for parliament. Political parties have to get 5 percent of votes, whereas the blocs need 7 percent to be elected to the National Assembly of Armenia.

As of 14:30 (UTC/GMT+4), the Investigative Committee of Armenia received 13 reports which contain violations of electoral rights, criminal elements under the criminal code, the Investigative Committee told, AzVision.az reports citing the Armenian media.

The materials predominantly relate to double voting attempts, open voting, obstruction of reporters of trustees.

Necessary actions are underway based on all materials in order to check the circumstances.
