Azerbaijani energy minister concerns about developments around TAP
Energy Minister Natig Aliyev has received US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta.

According to Ministry, they discussed Houston Offshore Technology Conference to be held in early May, cooperation in energy field, issues covering current situation in energy security and world energy market.
Informing about the conference, the ambassador noted that this event is a significant platform where energy specialists exchange opinions in order to improve scientific-technical knowledge on the issues of marine resources and environment.

The conference, which will be attended by more than 2,300 participants, is of great importance for oil and gas industry. The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan’s participation in the conference is important for demonstration of energy resources of Caspian Sea and opportunities as an energy hub.

R. Cekuta also asked about the Southern Gas Corridor. N. Aliyev informed about the current situation and existing difficulties on the project. The minister said that the works on Shahdeniz 2, South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion, TANAP are satisfactory, but several difficulties on TAP still remain in Italy. He expressed his concern about possible affects of these problems on timely completion of the Southern Gas Corridor. Highly appreciating Italian Economic Development Minister Carlo Calenda’s position about the Southern Gas Corridor, Aliyev said that the third meeting of the Third Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council contributed to acceleration of works.

The ambassador noted that US always supports the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor.

They also held discussions on other directions of Azerbaijan-US energy cooperation.
