PACE Standing Committee and Bureau meeting adopts declaration on Karabakh
Search for a peaceful solution to the Karabakh conflict stems from the commitments undertaken by Armenia and Azerbaijan when joining the Council of Europe.

This is stated in a declaration on Karabakh adopted at the meeting of the Standing Committee and the Bureau of PACE in Yerevan, Armenian media report.

The declaration, in particular, notes: "Finding a peaceful solution to the Karabakh conflict stems from the commitments undertaken by Armenia and Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe. In this context, the PACE expresses full support to the negotiations within the OSCE Minsk Group on the basis of the `Madrid principles` that form the basis for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

The Assembly calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to use the opportunity provided by their presidency (currently chaired by Armenia, to be followed by Azerbaijan) of the CoE Committee of Ministers to promote and intensify search for a solution to the conflict in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

This should be a priority during the presidency of Armenia and then Azerbaijan in the Committee of Ministers.

In turn, the PACE parliamentary diplomacy is ready to do everything in its power to facilitate dialogue and build confidence between the parliamentarians of the two countries - members of the organization."
