In the recent poll, just 40 percent of women think the president keeps his promises, compared to 51 percent of men. Only 16 percent of Democrats think the president keeps his promises and 81 percent of Republicans agree.
The poll also finds that fewer Americans now see the president as a strong and decisive leader who can bring about changes the country needs.
A slim majority, 52 percent, sees the president as a strong and decisive leader in the recent poll, down from 59 percent in February. Only 46 percent of Americans think the president is someone who can bring about the change the country needs, down from 53 percent in February.
Only 36 percent of respondents view the president as honest and trustworthy in the recent poll while 41 percent think he can manage the government effectively.
The new survey was conducted from April 5 to 9 among 1,019 adults. The margin of error is 4 percent.
The president has yet to fulfill many of his campaign promises, including repealing ObamaCare.
During an interview last week — conducted after the survey — the president shifted or reversed his position on matters of foreign and economic policy, including how to handle China and the future of the Federal Reserve's chairwoman.
