Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, initiator of the international awareness campaign “Justice for Khojaly” , Leyla Aliyeva, wrote the foreword to the book. It said, “On the night of 25-26 February 1992, one of the most tragic massacres in modern history took place. Backed by a military unit of Soviet troops deployed in the regional center Khankendi, Armenian armed forces carried out an ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijani civilians in Khojaly town. All media representatives from around the world who were there as well as information agencies aware of the event called the tragedy ‘massacre’. The Azerbaijani people met the happenings with deep sorrow, burying the victims in an honorable manner, doing all they can to rehabilitate the survivors of this relentless massacre.

The book "Khojaly Witness of a war crime. Armenia in the Dock" is the first independent book published in English in the West about the Khojaly Genocide.
