US Assistant Secretary, Armenian FM discuss Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement in Yerevan
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Wednesday met Victoria Nuland, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, in Yerevan, Armenia
Commending Armenia-US partnership, Nalbandian expressed hope for further development of bilateral cooperation.

Nuland, in her turn, said the United States attaches high importance to developing cooperation with Armenia in various fields and is willing to exert further efforts.

The sides discussed joint steps to expand bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on urgent international and regional problems, peacekeeping activity, prevention of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and counterterrorism.

In the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, Nalbandian and Nuland were unanimous on the need for efforts to resolve the conflict in a peaceful way on the basis of the three principles. Nalbandian stressed an important role of the United States as OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing state in the settlement process.

The US Assistant Secretary underlined that Armenia made positive progress toward democracy, strengthening of civil society, economic reforms and other areas.

Touching upon the joint economic projects and intensification of investments, the parties discussed the development of a framework between Armenia and the US.
