Mahmud Mammadguliyev: We are mostly dissatisfied with countries
Geneva to host next round of negotiations on Azerbaijan`s accession to the WTO next week

“Geneva will host the next round of negotiations on Azerbaijan`s accession to the WTO next week,” said Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev.

He said firstly the multilateral negotiations on the support for agriculture sphere will be conducted: “This is a very important issue. The development of agriculture in Azerbaijan depends on the conditions we will accept there. Geneva will also host the meeting of the working group, works will be carried out on documents submitted by them. Several expert consultation meetings may be held. A number of countries, as well as the U.S. and EU will conduct negotiations with us. We want Azerbaijan to be offered the most acceptable conditions.

Thus, it is unknown when the negotiations will be completed. Member states have their own requirements that we are mostly dissatisfied with. Time isn’t important for us, the important point is that the conditions should not damage our country and non-oil sector. Azerbaijan can join this organization after acceptance of these conditions,” he said.

The Deputy Foreign Minister said that a few issues not envisaged in the document are also put forward: “For example, agricultural support was indicated as 5% for developed countries or 10% for developing countries. They demand us to indicate it as 5 % as well. It is demanded not only from Azerbaijan, but also from Kazakhstan. They want the countries to accept their demands.”
