Azerbaijani FM: Co-chairs propose to create working group on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement
The Armenians can’t hold two Azerbaijani hostages, I’m sure that sooner or later they will be released.

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Wednesday made remarks at a joint press conference following the meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

E. Mammadyarov said the issue of hostages is on agenda during all meetings, referring to the latest visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.

The minister said the co-chairs have proposed to create a working group for the conflict settlement: “Azerbaijan has developed a joint project with the World Bank to deal with necessary works to be done when IDPs return. But we need to discuss this matter with Armenia too. First and foremost, Armenia must withdraw its troops from the occupied territories. Therefore, we tell the co-chairs that the top issue in negotiations has to be the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied lands. There are resolutions by the UN, the OSCE and other international organizations in this regard. Some resolutions and decisions are implemented before even being adopted. But when it comes to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, unfortunately we don’t see that”.

E. Mammadyarov added that he wants Armenia to join in regional projects too.

“But Armenia pushes itself to the corner by its own policy, and must withdraw from Azerbaijan’s occupied lands”.
