Leyla Aliyeva attends opening of center for blind and visually impaired children and youth in Sarajevo
Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva has attended the opening of the center for blind and visually impaired children and youth after reconstruction in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The center was reconstructed with the support and initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

State officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the opening ceremony.

Director of the center for blind and visually impaired children and youth Damir Ovcina informed Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva that the facility was established in 1947. The center consists of two buildings.

The Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation viewed photos reflecting the previous look of the center.
Ovcina said a state-of-the-art sports hall was added to the project after an appeal to President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva.

The director of the center asked Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva to convey her gratitude to the first lady of Azerbaijan.
Leyla Aliyeva listened to a music program performed by the center`s pupils.

Addressing the opening ceremony, head of the blind and visually impaired children Association Yenisa Zimic thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

On behalf of Bosnian Prime Minister Nermin Niksic, Minister of Education and Science Damir Masic also thanked the Foundation.

Minister Damir Masic presented a certificate of appreciation and a keepsake to Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva.

Other speakers at the event included mayor of Municipality Novi Grad Semir Efendic, Bosnian MP Adnan Vasic, and director of the center for blind and visually impaired children and youth Damir Ovcina.

Leyla Aliyeva was presented with handicrafts made by children at the center.

Then, the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation addressed the event.

Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva planted a tree in the yard of the center, and chatted with the children.

The Sarajevo trip also saw Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva visit a monument to victims of Khojaly and Srebrenica genocides in the Friendship Park.
