President: Since 2004, Azerbaijan’s economy has grown more than threefold
Azerbaijan has achieved big developments in social and economic development, said President Ilham Aliyev.
“Since 2004, Azerbaijan’s economy has grown more than three times, and over 1,600,000 jobs have been created in our country,” the president said addressing the General Debate of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, held in New York, APA reported.

He noted that the level of unemployment in Azerbaijan is one of the lowest in the world, 5-6 percent.

“One of our priorities is reduction of poverty. In 2004, the level of poverty was more than 40 percent, now it is 5-6 percent,” said President Aliyev. “Our foreign state debt is less than 20% of GDP. According to the global competitiveness report for 2016-2017 on the Davos world economic forum, Azerbaijan is ranked 37th among 136 countries.”
