Russian Federal Council committee chairman: Azerbaijan our most important partner in Caucasus
"In the Caucasus region, Azerbaijan is the most important trade-economic and political partner for Russia, Head of the Federal Council
He noted that South Caucasus republics are each of specific importance to Russia.

“Regional peace and stability are in the interest of Russia,” he stressed.

Kosachev thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for its attitude toward the Russian language and the country’s minority Russian population. According to him, humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan aims large-scale projects at the level of state.

The Russian parliamentarian outlined the energy sector as one of the priority directions of the bilateral partnership.

Speaking of the regional theme, Kosachev called Azerbaijan the most important and Armenia the closest partner for Russia, noting that Azerbaijan as a neighbor of Armenia and Georgia supports the settlement of conflicts through political agreements rather than use of force.
